前面提到中国目前几乎所有的铁路都是由中国国家铁路集团有限公司及其下属的铁路局运营的，所以这里我将中国的铁路统称为国铁。在这里您将看到中国的铁路网络，包括高铁、普速铁路、城际铁路等，中国国家铁路集团有限公司是经国务院批准、依据《中华人民共和国公司法》设立、由中央管理的国有独资公司。公司成立于2013年3月14日，公司注册资本为人民币17395亿元，以铁路客货运输为主业，实行多元化经营。
国铁前身为中国铁路总公司，故而现如今的国铁仍有许多旅客称之其为“铁总”。
中国铁路总公司再往前可以追溯到中国铁道部，中国铁道部是中华人民共和国成立后，负责铁路运输的国家机构，中国铁道部成立于1949年，是中华人民共和国的铁路运输主管部门，负责铁路运输的管理、建设和维护。铁道部随着政企分离和国务院机构改革也于2013年3月14日正式改组，中国铁路总公司成立。

As mentioned earlier, almost all railways in China are operated by China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. and its subordinate railway bureaus, so I collectively refer to China’s railways as China Railway. Here you will see China’s railway network, including high-speed rail, conventional rail, intercity rail, etc. China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. is a state-owned enterprise established with the approval of the State Council, in accordance with the “Company Law of the People’s Republic of China”, and managed by the central government. The company was established on March 14, 2013, with a registered capital of 1.7395 trillion yuan, focusing on passenger and freight railway transportation, and engaging in diversified operations.
The predecessor of China Railway is China Railway Corporation, so many passengers still refer to it as “China Railway Corporation”.
Going further back, China Railway Corporation can be traced to the Ministry of Railways of China. The Ministry of Railways was a state institution responsible for railway transportation after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It was established in 1949 and was the competent authority for railway transportation in China, responsible for the management, construction, and maintenance of railways. With the separation of government and enterprise and the reform of the State Council institutions, the Ministry of Railways was officially reorganized on March 14, 2013, and China Railway Corporation was established.
